First, you need to get the new mailbox first and check its support. You can simply choose a Postal Service (Postmaster) Approved mailbox or you can also use the custom one. However, before installing the custom mailbox, you have to make sure that it has been approved by the local postmaster first. Besides, checking the support provided by the mailbox is also important, such as its fence or block structure.
Second, you can contact mail carrier or postmaster. They will give you a lot of useful information related with several conditions about curbs, roads, and some other issues in different areas around your country. Besides, you can also ask their help to set up your mailbox and make it appropriate with any specific requirements needed in locating your mailbox.

Question by Joy: Would someone please suggest some plants for my mailbox?
Would someone please suggest 2-3 plants that I can plant around the base of my mailbox? The plant (flowering or non-flowering) needs to be hearty and be able to withstand full sunlight for the majority of the day. I live in Raleigh, NC so the summers can be pretty dry. I would also prefer something that doesn’t grow very tall and doesn’t creep or spread.
I have tried Verbena and Lantana, but they both get too out of control for me.

Hostas are the best hearty plants in the world. The get flowers in the fall I think but the greens are very pretty themselves. I have them at my house cause I tend to kill plants for some odd reason. These plants have lasted forever. Plus they spread so when spring comes around and they start coming up again dig out a few ‘stalks’ and replant them somewhere else. They come up every year bigger and bigger for years and years!
