Mailbox Recovery Center In Exchange Server 2003

Sometimes administrator deletes mailboxes by mistake. That mailbox can be recovered if within the retention period, default is 30 days. When any mailbox is deleted, Exchange does not delete those emails from its database for a period of 30 days. It actually hides the mailbox and can be recoverable within its retention period. We can reconnect the orphaned mailboxes to a new user.

Cleanup agent regularly scans all mailboxes and check if there is a connection between a user in Active Directory and a mailbox in the Exchange Information Store. If there is no connection, object is marked for the deletion. Otherwise we can reconnect it to the existing user. Cleanup agent can be run manually from the Exchange System Manager.

Cleanup agent is used to reconnect the deleted mailboxes. After running the cleanup agent, right click on orphaned mailboxes and choose 'Reconnect’ to connect it to a new user in the Active Directory.

Below are the steps of recovering deleted mailbox through Mailbox Recovery Center.

Let us assume that administrator accidently deleted john user account from the Active Directory. Now we will use Mailbox Recovery Center feature to recover this deleted object.

Create a new user in Active Directory Users and Computer but without mailbox account.
Open the Exchange System Manager.
Expand Tools.
Right-click on Mailbox Recovery Center and click Add Mailbox Store.
Select the Mailbox store.
On the right-side, you will only see the re-connectable mailboxes.
Right click on any mailbox and click on Reconnect option to restore the deleted object.

The only way is to use a third party mail program like Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. These give you a lot more control. You do have to purchase Yahoo Mail Plus for per year to be able to recieve and send from these programs. Question by Jason W: How to install a mailbox in the winter?

Well I just moved into our new home and there is no mailbox installed. I need an idea on how I am going to install this mailbox when the ground is frozen and cement don’t harden in freezing temps. I live in Michigan if that helps.I heard of putting a post in a 5 gallon bucket with cement but is this legal and has anyone had success in doing this. Thanks.

Question by Arslan: Is it legal to show rented mailbox address as a residence address?

I have been moving around for a while and moving from one apartment to another. This seems to continue further till I marry, get a permanent job and set up a permanent address. And I am really tired of following up with adress changes.

Right now I am in Maryland, I am not planning to move out of Maryland, but may change several apartments depending on my roommates.

So I just was wondering if it’s legal if I rent a mailbox with real street adress nearby Washington, DC metro area of Maryland and show this address as my permanent residence address for driver’s licence, banks, credit cards.

I will only report my temporary addresses to USCIS and selective service so that government will be able to know where I am actually living.

If your mailing address is a PO Box, you need to give a physical address to certain places like the DMV for drivers lisence. Banks and credit cards only need mailing address.
